Project Details

The project consisted of the demolition of approximately 60% of the existing Sam Barlow High School and replacement with a new classroom wings and entry vestibule. The construction was fabricated with steel stud gypsum and various cladding systems over a slab on grade foundation.  The foundation was poured over a vapor retarder membrane tied into the below grade waterproofing membrane. A below grade tunnel also received below grade waterproofing in the form of a blind side sheet membrane application (Preprufe). A self-adhered sheet applied water-resistant barrier was applied over the exterior gypsum with liquid flashing membrane at fenestration openings. The glazing systems included storefront and curtainwall systems integrated into the WRB system.  PRC performed QA/QC services for the District throughout the design phase and carried through to end of construction.  PRC was charged with the Building Enclosure minus the roof system which was covered by Paul Bentley Architects.  PRC assisted with design of the exterior system and followed it from design to fruition.  PRC coordinated testing of the glazing systems installed on the structure with the assistance of QED Lab, Inc. who performed each test. The project was completed in June of 2020 and is considered to be a successful project.
