Quality assurance and quality control is crucial in today's construction market. It is invaluable to make informed and intelligent decisions during the design process in order to achieve long-term success.

Our proven expertise in Exterior Wall inspection services, also referred to as QA/QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) services, allows us to conduct thorough and detailed inspections, with services oriented to address important inspection milestones, including:

  • Setting and establishing project schedules, including critical sequencing aspects.
  • Review and acceptance of various mock-ups.
  • Confirmation and documentation of system components and materials.
  • Documenting acceptable conditions for system installation.
  • Documenting and recording installation techniques and progress.
  • Documenting potential installation and detailing problems, and making recommendations for improvement, if required.
  • Coordinating and documenting water testing for windows and doors.
  • Assistance with correct construction sequencing - critical for proper building envelope performance.
  • Confirming that installation is in accordance with applicable installation instructions.
  • Generation of a punch list that pertains to each envelope component.
  • Confirming final acceptance (and certification, where required) of the installation.

The importance of documenting construction activities during all phases of every project is crucial. In the case of quality control inspections during construction, our detailed Field Reports are prepared prior to the start of a project, and are customized as required to meet the particular project or client's needs. The thoroughness of our reports has been rewarded with repeat clientele, and a strong industry reputation.

All of our QA/QC inspections are supplemented with photography and color reproduction reports distributed to key project personnel. Typically, all daily Field Reports are distributed by the start of the following business day to facilitate correction of items of non-conformance. Through detailed quality control inspections, PRC is able to ensure that specified systems are provided and documented, reducing the risks of individual contractor "value engineering."  PRC's inspectors also significantly reduce the risk of construction defects, which can lead to water infiltration, related problems, and costly litigation and repair events. It has become common practice (and in some cases, a requirement by Code) to implement water testing on exterior assemblies, especially window systems. PRC is familiar with all types of testing methods, and has successfully coordinated and documented various AAMA and ASTM water testing on windows. AAMA-certified and accredited testing agencies are retained for projects requiring such qualification.

Full-time / Part-time

The frequency of QA/QC inspections can vary depending on an individual project, and, like our roof inspection services, can be provided either full-time or part-time.

Full-time inspection services include site visits and observations of construction progress on a daily basis. We often implement alternating full-time inspection services during the course of a project, as the installation of an entire exterior wall assembly can tend to be intermittent due to differing trade responsibilities. Field Reports are generated and issued on a daily basis to all appropriate parties so that action items can be addressed in a timely manner.

Part-time inspection services are generally established by the complexities and demands of a particular project. It is common to provide, as a minimum, once-per-week site visits for most construction projects. However, we often recommend increasing site visits at the onset of the project to at least twice weekly to establish a strong Team relationship and appropriate construction protocols.  PRC has established inspection processes that are proven, and we are proud of our record of providing positive results and accurate reporting.
