Published statistics point out that the majority of construction deficiencies are related to some type of moisture intrusion. Whether the issue is a construction defect or simply system expiration, it is important to address all issues before the resulting damage (to the building and/or occupants) becomes irreparable.

All components of a building— the roof, walls, and below-grade waterproofing systems— are vulnerable to moisture intrusion. The result of moisture intrusion can often be seen from staining and destruction of exterior cladding assemblies, efflorescence and degradation of masonry products, all the way to deterioration of structural framing and sheathing and damage to interior systems and contents. Furthermore, the presence of mold and mildew can have a great effect on building occupants.

Professional Roof Consultants, Inc. has been involved with moisture intrusion analysis since the inception of the firm, not just at the roof level, but the entire building envelope. Our skilled envelope system technical specialists are familiar with the array of techniques used to locate and determine moisture intrusion sources. Each case requires an individual approach, and our technicians fully utilize a complete inventory of moisture meters, infrared cameras, probe cameras, and other specialty tools that assist in determining the cause and source.

Our field work is supplemented by our comprehensive reporting. All moisture intrusion surveys are thoroughly documented with a detailed report that identifies the issue and provides recommendations— as well as options— on how to correct the found deficiency.
